Stan Wawrinka has announced that his upcoming retirement will be commemorated with a special exhibition event in Geneva this December, following his final competitive appearance at the Swiss Indoors in Basel. The departing veteran will be joined by fellow tennis stars Roger Federer, Andy Murray, and Gael Monfils for the festivities.
Monfils recently accelerated his own retirement timeline after parting ways with Elina Svitolina, removing himself from anti-doping lists and bringing his career to a close ahead of schedule.
Dubbed One Last Backhand, the exhibition showcase will treat fans to a single-set singles match between Wawrinka and Monfils. This will be followed by a doubles pairing that reunites Wawrinka and Federer on the same side of the net to face off against Murray and Monfils.
Remaining tickets for the December 19 celebration are scheduled to become available to the public on October 30.
