Highest-ever! Afghanistan make historic leap, overtake SL, ENG & WI in ODI rankings

Afghanistan has achieved a milestone by entering the top six of the ICC ODI team rankings, moving ahead of England, the West Indies, and Sri Lanka. This ascent follows a steady progression since their 2009 debut, highlighted by a 1.09 win-loss ratio across 191 matches and strong performances during the 2023 World Cup and 2024 T20 World Cup.

Recent successes, including a series sweep against Ireland and an undefeated run in a tri-series, have bolstered their standing. Additionally, the team recently secured a 3-0 T20I series victory against Zimbabwe, concluding with a seven-wicket win.

The squad is now preparing for an upcoming two-match Test series against Zimbabwe.
