‘We are planning for him to play’ - Andrew McDonald provides Steve Smith's fitness update ahead of NZ Tests

Australia concluded their tour of South Africa with a 2-1 series defeat after a heavy 176-run loss in the final match at Newlands. Despite being bowled out for 111 while chasing a target of 288, head coach Andrew McDonald expressed confidence in the squad's development and the strength of the batting lineup.

Steve Smith missed the deciding Test due to a neck injury that failed to improve following a final assessment, though the team expects him to be available for the upcoming series against New Zealand.
