Wimbledon is currently redeveloping the famous grassy slope near No 1 Court to prepare for the tournament's 150th anniversary in 2027. The project aims to increase capacity by 20 percent by replacing the steep incline with terraced seating, while also adding a pergola around a historic oak tree to provide shade and rain protection.
Chairwoman Deborah Jevans noted that these modifications will improve accessibility for guests with mobility requirements. The site, historically nicknamed after Tim Henman and Andy Murray, gained recent notoriety as Arthur's Seat following a deep tournament run by Arthur Fery.
During that event, crowd noise from the hill was significant enough to interrupt play on the adjacent court, according to master of ceremonies Dan Bloxham.
