Tennessee linebackers coach William Inge has emerged from a critical health battle after spending nearly a month hospitalized at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. The 52-year-old coach, who joined the Volunteers three seasons ago following his departure from the University of Washington, shared his recovery progress in a social media post, thanking medical staff and expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans and teammates.
Volunteers head coach Josh Heupel described Inge’s recovery as a 'miracle,' noting the severity of his condition during his hospitalization. Inge previously co-led the Huskies’ defense alongside Chuck Morrell during Kalen DeBoer’s tenure, helping Washington win 25 of 28 games and reach the 2024 College Football Playoff national championship game.
Before his coaching career, Inge played for Iowa and faced the Huskies in the 1995 Sun Bowl, contributing to a 38-18 victory for his team.
