ESPN's FPI has a new No. 1 team after Week 4

The latest computer ratings from the sports network have shifted the top spot following the fourth weekend of games. Georgia surged into the premier position after dispatching Oklahoma by forty-one points to thirteen, a decisive outcome that simultaneously caused the vanquished squad to tumble seven spots down to twenty-first.

Meanwhile, the previous occupant of the peak position, Ohio State, dropped to third despite securing a twenty-three point victory over Illinois. That win featured a standout offensive display from Jeremiah Smith, who accumulated two hundred seventeen yards and crossed the goal line four times.

Notre Dame climbed into the second position behind a strong opening campaign, while Texas and Miami rounded out the top five slots respectively. The analytical formula projects the top-ranked Bulldogs hold the highest probability of capturing the national title at nearly sixteen percent.

That program still faces a pair of formidable regular-season challenges against sixth-ranked Alabama and tenth-ranked Florida.
