ESPN’s CFP negotiations have reportedly been ‘tough sledding’

Current discussions between the network and the postseason organizing body face significant roadblocks as an October deadline approaches. The primary obstacle involves conferences attempting to replace the financial loss tied to dropping their postseason championship contests, such as the SEC title match worth roughly one hundred million dollars.

If both parties fail to reach an agreement before the cutoff date, media rights for the proposed twenty-four team postseason will open up to competing networks like Fox, NBC, and Prime Video.
