England replaces India as World No.1 T20I team after sealing 3-0 series whitewash vs Sri Lanka

England ascended to the top of the global T20 rankings after routing Sri Lanka by eight wickets in Manchester, completing a 3-0 sweep and securing their 15th consecutive format victory over the islanders. Electing to bowl in breezy conditions, the unchanged home side dismissed Sri Lanka for 124 in 18.5 overs, with Sonny Baker earning Player of the Match honors while claiming two wickets alongside identical hauls from Jofra Archer and Will Jacks.

Pathum Nissanka top-scored for the visitors with 36, followed by Kamindu Mendis's 35, before Charith Asalanka was run out for 16, Wanindu Hasaranga hit his own stumps for seven, and Eshan Malinga fell run out for zero to Liam Dawson.

In reply, England comfortably reached 126 for two with 62 deliveries to spare, rebounding from Aneurin Donald's early dismissal for 13 thanks to an aggressive stand between Jos Buttler and Harry Brook. Brook added 33 before a run out, concluding the tour as Player of the Series and leading run-scorer following an unbeaten 114 in Southampton's 119-run opening triumph and a subsequent six-wicket win in Cardiff.

Buttler sealed the match with a maximum, remaining 62 not out from 32 balls after passing 15,000 career T20 runs earlier in the week, as both teams now shift focus to a three-match ODI series beginning at Chester-le-Street before heading to Headingley and The Oval.
