Burnley still winless after Derby strike late to earn point

Burnley's wait for their initial league triumph since February continues following a 1-1 home draw against Derby. Swiss attacker Zeki Amdouni appeared to have secured the points for the Clarets in the 34th minute, nodding into the net at the back stick after visiting keeper Josh Vickers mishandled a Lucas Pires corner kick.

That goal provided momentary respite for newly installed Burnley manager Nicky Hayen, who had introduced six lineup modifications—omitting Kyle Walker and Max Weiss while reinstating Marcus Edwards—following a previous defeat at Swansea. However, Ghanaian winger Mohammed Fuseini, recently acquired on loan from Union Saint-Gilloise, spoiled the celebration by converting an angled strike off the upright in added time after being played through by Rhian Brewster.

Derby, who also sit inside the relegation zone amid significant injuries, mounted numerous dangerous attacks throughout the contest. Prior to the break, Sammie Szmodics, Ryan Hedges, and Dion Sanderson were each frustrated in quick succession by Gregoire Coudert, Igor Julio, and Anel Ahmedhodzic after David Ozoh had an initial effort deflected.

Early in the second half, Coudert turned aside an Ozoh drive and later repelled Bobby Clark's 20-yard effort, while Sanderson denied substitute Largie Ramazani at the opposite end. The late leveller keeps Burnley rooted to the foot of the Championship table without a victory, failing to deliver on what Hayen had labeled a crucial encounter.
