Barcelona dealt blow in pursuit of defender as Serie A giants activate contract extension clause

Barcelona's hopes of signing Federico Dimarco have been dashed after Inter Milan exercised a one-year extension option on his current deal. The move keeps the Italian defender under contract with the Serie A side through 2028, effectively ending the Spanish club's pursuit for the upcoming summer window.

Inter Milan president Giuseppe Marotta confirmed the decision, emphasizing the player's desire to remain with the team. The club is now looking to initiate talks regarding a longer-term agreement to secure his future further.

This development complicates Barcelona's search for defensive reinforcements, as they previously considered the player a target to address their needs at left-back.
