India bowling coach Morne Morkel has outlined a comprehensive strategy to manage player workloads during the upcoming tour of New Zealand. The plan involves retaining a specific group of bowlers as backup for the two-match Test series, which begins shortly after the conclusion of five T20Is and five ODIs.
Arshdeep Singh is currently being considered for this red-ball reserve role, as the management looks to rotate players across the white-ball fixtures to ensure peak fitness for the longer format. Morkel emphasized that this long-term approach was established well in advance to prepare the entire bowling unit, including Jasprit Bumrah, for the demanding schedule.
