The Kansas City Chiefs’ preseason struggles deepened Sunday with a 28–24 loss to the Denver Broncos, but the team’s roster uncertainty extended beyond the scoreboard. Two first-round draft picks—cornerback Mansoor Delane and defensive tackle Peter Woods—missed the game entirely after being ruled out with injuries.
Delane departed before kickoff, while Woods suffered a stinger in the first half and did not return after halftime. The most notable absence, however, was left guard Kingsley Suamataia, who sat out for the second time this season despite being active for the game.
Backup Mike Caliendo started in his place, a move head coach Andy Reid declined to explain beyond a cryptic remark: *“It’s just between Kingsley and I.”* With the Chiefs now 2–6 and facing the New York Jets next, the status of Suamataia—and the reasons behind his benching—remains the team’s most pressing unresolved question.
