5 takeaways from the Steelers’ 20-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons

The Pittsburgh Steelers launched their 2026 campaign by edging out the Atlanta Falcons in a 20-13 battle at Acrisure Stadium on September 13. Marking his regular-season debut at the helm in Pittsburgh, head coach Mike McCarthy secured his first victory as the team overcame an injury-depleted opponent.

Tight end Pat Freiermuth provided an offensive boost by reaching the end zone on a second-quarter touchdown catch.

T.J. Watt proved decisive in the contest, kicking off his tenth year in the league with an interception return for a score late in the fourth quarter.

The veteran outside linebacker anchored the defensive stand, while receiver DK Metcalf endured a miscue with a dropped football during the hard-fought opening week matchup.
