Lamar Jackson returned to the field for the Ravens on Sunday but suffered a thumb injury on his very first snap against the Buffalo Bills, after a hit by defensive end Greg Rousseau. The injury forced him out, and he was later placed on injured reserve, leaving the Ravens without their starter as they fell 36-10, dropping to a 4-4 record; backup Tyler Huntley also left the game and rookie Joe Fagnano made his debut under pressure, throwing an interception and losing a fumble.
In Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers pulled off a rare victory by not completing a single forward pass, with Baker Mayfield finishing 0-for-3 and recording a 2‑yard sack that left the team with negative passing yards. After an early 9-0 lead, the Bucs ran the ball on 28 consecutive plays and held on for the win, marking the first time since 1974 a team won without a completed pass.
