LOOK: Derrick Henry makes NFL history during Ravens' Week 1 showdown vs. Colts

Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry ascended to third place on the NFL's all-time rushing touchdown leaderboard during a Week 1 clash with the Indianapolis Colts. Henry began the campaign holding the fourth spot, but he matched Marcus Allen with his 123rd career ground score on a four-yard run with 4:05 remaining in the opening period, putting Baltimore ahead 14-7.

He subsequently took sole possession of third place in the second quarter by breaking away for a 32-yard score. That left Henry trailing only Emmitt Smith, who recorded 164 rushing touchdowns across 15 years with Dallas and Arizona, and LaDainian Tomlinson, who posted 145 over an 11-season run representing the Chargers and Jets.

Allen had initially stepped away after the 1997 campaign as the league's all-time ground score pacesetter, having also secured honors as the 1985 NFL MVP, Super Bowl XVIII MVP, and 1993 Comeback Player of the Year while standing as the inaugural player with 10,000 rushing and 5,000 receiving yards. His 74-yard sprint in Super Bowl XVIII lasted as the longest carry in Super Bowl history for 22 seasons before Willie Parker of the Steelers surpassed it in Super Bowl XL.

Along with his touchdown milestones, Henry came into the contest ranked 10th in league annals for total rushing yardage, sitting under 1,000 yards away from becoming the seventh rusher to crack the 14,000-yard barrier.
