Leg-spinner Amit Mishra has expressed frustration regarding his lack of a return to the Indian national team, claiming that Virat Kohli, who was captain at the time, promised a follow-up call after his injury rehabilitation. Mishra states that despite regaining full fitness, he never received the clarity needed to undergo a selection process.
His last international appearance was in February 2017, following a period of high performance, including a 15-wicket haul during a 2016 ODI series against New Zealand. During that series, he secured the Player of the Series award and was named Player of the Match in the final ODI held in Visakhapatnam.
He also credited Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who helped him manage the pressure of being compared to Anil Kumble, early in his career.
