South Africa secured an innings-and-31-run win against Australia in Gqeberha, preventing the top-ranked Australians from widening their lead in the World Test Championship standings. Australia currently holds a 75.00 PCT, followed by New Zealand at 72.22 and South Africa at 66.67.
This result keeps the race for the final at The Oval in London open for other contenders.
India, currently fifth, must earn 62 points from their final seven matches—including five home Tests against Australia and two against New Zealand—to reach a 60 PCT. They cannot lose more than two of these games and must hope that at least two of the top three teams drop points.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh, who sit in fourth place, also remain in the running, with four of their six remaining Tests scheduled for home soil.
