Is Derrick Henry the best RB of all-time? Where he stands among NFL's top-10 running backs

Former NFL offensive lineman Terron Armstead suggested that Derrick Henry deserves serious consideration as the finest running back in football history, emphasizing that Henry's sustained output, scoring dominance, and a 2,000-yard rushing milestone often get overlooked due to a less flashy playing style compared to legends like Barry Sanders or Gale Sayers. While Henry has established himself as the benchmark runner of his generation, historical comparisons place his status alongside past gridiron greats who achieved legendary feats.

Sayers earned an honorable mention after compiling 9,435 net yards, 336 points across 68 appearances for the Chicago Bears, and setting an NFL standard for kickoff return yardage, alongside a 20-touchdown rookie campaign in 1965 that featured a six-touchdown performance against San Francisco. Tenth-ranked Earl Campbell secured three consecutive rushing crowns to launch his career, highlighted by a 1980 season with 373 attempts, 1,934 yards, 13 scores, and a 5.2-yard average before physical wear shortened his peak.

Adrian Peterson placed ninth behind three rushing titles, an eight-yard near-miss of the single-season record in 2012, an age-30 rushing crown in 2015, and an eighth 1,000-yard effort at 33, while eighth-ranked Eric Dickerson remains celebrated for his upright posture, signature goggles, neck roll, and an NFL-record 2,105 rushing yards in 1984.
