Lorenzo Finn, the 19-year-old Italian prodigy, is set to transition from the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe 'Rookies' development squad to the WorldTour team in 2027, marking his full professional debut. Despite having the option to turn pro in 2026, Finn chose to remain in the U23 ranks, where he dominated by winning the 2025 U23 road race world title, the Giro d'Italia Next Gen, and the Tour de l'Avenir.
He also showcased his talent in elite races, including a victory at the Sibiu Tour and a 55th-place finish at the 2025 World Championships, where many competitors failed to complete the race. Finn’s gradual development approach will continue as he steps into the professional arena, with the team emphasizing patience and avoiding undue pressure after his standout U23 season.
Finn has openly acknowledged the challenges ahead, particularly the longer race distances in professional cycling, which differ significantly from U23 events. He expressed confidence in his readiness but stressed the need to adapt to the demands of Monuments and Grand Tours, aiming to improve through experience.
While his 2027 schedule remains unconfirmed, Finn has hinted at the possibility of racing his first Grand Tour in his debut season, further solidifying his status as a future contender for major titles alongside peers like Paul Seixas.
