'Embrace the chaos' - What we learnt from Tuchel's England picks

Thomas Tuchel has introduced eight modifications to his England setup, highlighted by recalls for Cole Palmer and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Palmer earned his place back following an explosive opening to Chelsea's campaign, racking up four goals alongside two assists across six appearances.

Tuchel noted that the playmaker is delivering tangible offensive output again after missing out on the previous World Cup tournament. Finding space for Palmer will prove a puzzle, however, given Jude Bellingham's hold on the central attacking role, Bukayo Saka operating on the right, Anthony Gordon thriving on the left wing, and Morgan Rogers also commanding attention.

Kobbie Mainoo has also retained his spot, with Tuchel explicitly promising game time across the upcoming four-match, three-week international window. The Manchester United midfielder failed to log a single minute during the World Cup as the manager relied instead on Declan Rice, Elliot Anderson, and Reece James.

Tuchel assumed full personal responsibility for keeping Mainoo benched throughout that tournament, praising the youngster's professionalism while affirming a duty to deploy him on the pitch this time around.
