Zimbabwe’s Test squad has been announced for a two-match series against Afghanistan in Sharjah, with Brian Bennett named as captain following injuries to regular skipper Richard Ngarava. The series, scheduled for November 5–9 and 13–17, comes after Zimbabwe’s struggles in white-ball cricket, including a 3-0 T20I defeat by Afghanistan and a 7-wicket loss in a recent tri-series final.
The squad retains key players from Zimbabwe’s historic Test win over Bangladesh earlier this year, including veteran spinner Graeme Cremer and all-rounder Antum Naqvi, who recently met eligibility criteria to represent Zimbabwe. The batting lineup will rely on experienced hands like Brendan Taylor and Craig Ervine, while fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani leads a pace attack that includes returning Test players Kundai Matigimu and Vincent Masekesa.
Injuries to Ngarava and Tanaka Chivanga have further complicated preparations, leaving Bennett to navigate a challenging batting order and a lineup still rebuilding after a disappointing white-ball campaign.
