WNBA Writer Proposes Familiar Face as Lynne Roberts Replacement After Sparks Fall Short of Playoffs

Following another missed postseason appearance and two straight years failing to qualify for the playoffs under her guidance, Lynne Roberts has been dismissed from her position as head coach of the Los Angeles Sparks. The organizational change leaves the franchise searching for a proven leader to rebuild its culture.

In response to the vacancy, WNBA analyst Jemele Hill publicly suggested Teresa Weatherspoon as the ideal candidate to take over the role. Weatherspoon previously coached the Chicago Sky during Angel Reese's rookie campaign before her tenure ended following the 2024 season, and she also brings extensive experience from college basketball, the WNBA, and an assistant coaching stint with the New Orleans Pelicans.
