With De'Zhaun Stribling out at least a month, 49ers must adapt their passing game

The San Francisco 49ers opened their campaign with a 27-7 triumph against the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia, but the victory came at a significant cost to their offensive unit. First-year receiver De'Zhaun Stribling, chosen in the second round out of Ole Miss, sustained a deltoid ankle sprain during the contest and is now headed to injured reserve.

The designation means the standout pass-catcher will sit out for a minimum of four contests or roughly a month while weighing care options.

San Francisco's aerial attack must recalibrate without Stribling, whose setback also prompted criticism over the medical staff allowing him to play through discomfort. The wideout was not the only casualty from the Week 1 divisional clash, as tight end Jake Tonges also sustained a sprained MCL that will sideline him for an undetermined stretch.
