With De'Zhaun Stribling out 10 weeks, 49ers must adapt their passing game

The San Francisco 49ers began their regular season with a 27-7 triumph over the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia, but the win came with severe setbacks. Rookie pass-catcher De'Zhaun Stribling, a second-round selection out of Ole Miss, sustained a deltoid ankle sprain that has landed him on injured reserve, sidelining him anywhere from four weeks to over two months.

San Francisco also lost tight end Jake Tonges to an MCL sprain during the contest, a medical issue that has reportedly ended his season. The multi-week loss of Stribling leaves the Niners forced to retool their aerial attack and shuffle their depth chart after the young wideout had previously turned heads throughout preseason training camp.
