Weekly Stat Review: Post Week 1 edition

The Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers kicked off their campaigns with an unprecedented offensive explosion at Bank of America Stadium, combining for 96 points to set a new league record for the highest-scoring Week 1 contest ever played. Chicago powered past Carolina by tallying 59 points, marking the franchise's biggest point total for an opening week.

Carolina contributed to the historic total behind quarterback Bryce Young, whose passing helped push the aggregate score past the previous record of 89 points, and running back Chuba Hubbard, who found the end zone during the third quarter.

Despite showing offensive growth, the Panthers tumbled in the league power rankings following a disastrous defensive outing plagued by frequent breakdowns. Former franchise star Luke Kuechly was referenced amid the defensive letdown, while analysts noted that Carolina's glaring mistakes overshadowed an otherwise historic regular-season debut.
