Tom Banton has opted to move away from first-class cricket to prioritize his white-ball career with England. The Somerset batter, who previously set a county record with a 371-run innings, transitioned to a limited-overs contract in June to better manage his workload amid a congested international and franchise schedule.
Banton is currently aiming to secure a permanent spot in the ODI squad ahead of the upcoming World Cup. He has recently found success as an opener, tallying four consecutive scores of at least 50 and hitting his first international century.
Despite this form, he is still refining his approach to the 50-over format, having made only 30 List A appearances to date.
