TENNESSEE VOLS FOOTBALL: Heupel reminds team of the past before facing South Carolina

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel is utilizing historical context to prepare his team for their upcoming road game against South Carolina. Heupel reminded his players of the 2022 matchup in Columbia where the Gamecocks defeated the Volunteers 63-38, a loss that ended Tennessee's playoff hopes and resulted in a season-ending injury for quarterback Hendon Hooker.

Receiver Mike Matthews noted that the coaching staff displayed images of South Carolina fans storming the field to emphasize the hostile environment the team will face. The Gamecocks enter the contest following a 38-19 victory over Florida and a bye week.

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellars, who recorded five touchdowns in his last outing, will look to challenge the Tennessee defense, while edge rusher Dylan Stewart remains a key defensive threat for the hosts.
