During Wednesday night's season opener, Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic and Golden State Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg engaged in a continuous exchange of trash talk throughout the second quarter after Lendeborg was whistled for a shooting foul. The verbal sparring persisted even after Lendeborg was removed from the floor, with Doncic approaching the opposing bench late in the period.
Right before the halftime intermission, Doncic punctuated his dominant first half by banking in a buzzer-beating shot from beyond halfcourt.
That spectacular 3-pointer capped off a 17-4 surge for Los Angeles and pushed the team's advantage to 66-52 heading into the locker rooms, following a 32-19 second-quarter advantage. Doncic finished the first half with 23 points overall, including 10 during the second quarter alone.
For Lendeborg, the contest marked his debut appearance in the league as the eleventh overall selection in the June draft.
