Phillip Island MotoGP LIVE: Friday practice updates

Friday’s MotoGP action at Phillip Island kicked off with free practice sessions starting at 10:45 am local time, followed by a later practice at 13:00. The Australian round marks the final appearance of the circuit before the Grand Prix moves to Adelaide’s street layout in 2027.

The championship battle is tight, with Jorge Martin holding a two‑point lead over Marc Marquez after the Indonesian round. Both riders missed the previous year’s Phillip Island event due to injuries, while Marco Bezzecchi and Raul Fernandez secured an Aprilia sweep of sprint and race victories last season.

Home favourite Jack Miller is set for his last MotoGP race on Australian soil before switching to WorldSBK next year.

The weather is expected to be sunny for Friday’s sessions, but rain and cooler temperatures are forecast for the weekend’s Saturday and Sunday races. Other former Phillip Island winners on the grid include Fernandez, Johann Zarco and Alex Rins, each with a single victory at the venue.
