Naman Dhir smashed a rapid 42 from just 15 balls to steer India to a four‑wicket victory over New Zealand, clinching the chase of 226 with two balls remaining. The win gave India its highest ever T20I chase and a 1‑0 lead in the five‑match series at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
Openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharman provided a blistering start, adding 94 runs in the first six overs, while Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel later contributed a 45‑run stand. After Axar fell in the 15th over, India needed 46 from the final four overs, which Dhir supplied with big hits, sealing the match as New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips had earlier hit an unbeaten 82 off 40 to post 225.
