Spurs do score but Szoboszlai stunner seals cup tie for Liverpool

Liverpool earned a 3-1 victory against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup third round at Anfield. The hosts established control through Alexis Mac Allister, who curled an opening strike high into the target, and Cody Gakpo, who doubled the advantage with a ferocious second-half finish.

Conor Gallagher trimmed the deficit with a close-range header for Roberto De Zerbi's side, marking Spurs' maiden goal of the term against Premier League opposition, while Giorgi Mamardashvili made crucial stops against Lucas Bergvall and Omar Marmoush. Dominik Szoboszlai put the outcome beyond doubt in added time, firing a sensational blast past Martin Dubravka.

Following a lethargic display against Fulham over the weekend, Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola implemented ten squad adjustments, drawing energetic contributions from young talents Lewis Koumas and Trey Nyoni. Spurs, who missed further opportunities via Mohammed Kudus and operated without Richarlison, exit the tournament despite their second-half fightback, while Iraola's squad advances to the next phase.
