Former international cricketer Yuvraj Singh has publicly advocated for the inclusion of Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and Ishan Kishan into the national ODI squad. Singh argued that the current selection policy fails to adequately utilize the potential of these players, particularly given the recent form of Abhishek and Sooryavanshi during the T20I series against New Zealand.
While acknowledging the difficulty of displacing established veterans like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill, he emphasized that the younger talents deserve a chance based on their recent performances.
During the T20I series, India secured an unassailable 3-0 lead before falling to an 87-run defeat at Eden Park. In that match, the visitors were limited to 172 for nine while chasing a target of 260.
The teams are now preparing for a five-match ODI series scheduled to commence on November 4, following the conclusion of the final T20I in Hamilton.
