Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Josh Simmons was directed to exit a team meeting on Wednesday by head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The confrontation began when Reid requested that Simmons adjust his posture, leading to a disagreement regarding the player's back injury.
Following the exchange, Simmons departed the session and later offered apologies to the coaching staff and team leadership. The organization subsequently placed Simmons on injured reserve on Thursday, noting that his recent absence from practice involved both medical concerns and personal time granted by the team to consult with his representatives.
Selected in the first round of the previous year's draft, the tackle has appeared in only eight contests and remains sidelined until at least a Week 11 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
