Ranji Trophy 2026/27: All round Shahbaz, Shami put Bengal in command against Kerala

Shahbaz Ahmed anchored Bengal’s innings with a commanding 121 off 203 balls, hitting eight fours and four sixes, while his partner Sumanta Gupta added a quick 49. Their partnership propelled Bengal to 350 in 102.2 overs, establishing a solid lead over Kerala.

On the bowling front, Mohammed Shami dismantled the Kerala lineup, claiming three wickets for just 20 runs, including the scalps of Abhishek P. Nair, Vishnu Vinod and Salman Nizar, leaving the visitors at 101 for six at the close of day two.

The duo’s all‑round performance gave Bengal firm control of the Elite Group C clash at the KCA Stadium in Mangalapuram, with Kerala struggling to recover after early setbacks and Bengal’s bowlers maintaining pressure throughout the session.
