Valkyries’ ‘defense wins championships’ mantra in full effect, dominating Dream in WNBA Finals Game 5

The Golden State Valkyries secured a 64-55 victory over the Atlanta Dream in Game 5 of the WNBA Finals, moving within one win of the championship. Relying on a physical defensive approach, Golden State held their opponents to low shooting efficiency while forcing nine steals and nine blocks.

Kiah Stokes and Veronica Burton each contributed 13 points and eight rebounds to lead the effort, while Natalie Nakase emphasized the team's commitment to high-pressure defensive schemes throughout the series. Despite Rhyne Howard scoring 20 points for Atlanta, the Dream struggled to overcome the Valkyries' intensity, with Angel Reese limited to seven points and Allisha Gray held to 10 points.
