India create world record: Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi slam fastest 100, biggest powerplay score

During the third match of the series in Wellington, the visiting team produced an extraordinary batting display while pursuing a target of 199. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi dismantled the bowling attack to record the quickest team century in the history of the format.

They surpassed the previous full-member benchmark held by South Africa by reaching triple digits in just five overs.

The pair went on to amass 118 runs during the initial six-over powerplay, establishing a new high-water mark for that phase of an innings. Vaibhav contributed 45 runs before departing, while Abhishek continued his aggressive innings as the side moved rapidly toward sealing the series.
