Following a successful return to his natural role as an opener, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has secured a series-winning lead for India against New Zealand. The 15-year-old left-hander left a match in Wellington, scoring 45 from 19 deliveries in the third T20I.
After a previous attempt to move him down the order to the number three spot, he bounced back with a strong performance.
Ravichandran Ashwin, speaking on his YouTube channel, suggested that while Ishan Kishan's absence due to injury makes thes situation, Sanju Samson is the best fit for the ability to play at number three. Ashwin's advice is to keep Sooryavanshi in the opening slot to avoid unnecessary confusion.
