Prema Rawat snatches world record from Pakistan, hits fastest Women's T20 fifty

November 2, 2026

India’s Prema Rawat redefined speed in women’s T20 cricket, smashing a blistering 14-ball fifty to break Pakistan captain Fatima Sana’s previous record of 15 deliveries. Playing for Uttarakhand in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, Rawat’s unbeaten 50—featuring six boundaries and four sixes at a strike rate of 357.14—propelled her team to a dominant 187 for two against Hyderabad.

The 24-year-old’s explosive innings, coupled with a 4-wicket haul, earned her Player of the Match honors and cemented her status as a rising force in Indian cricket, having already secured a spot in the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup squad after a standout performance for India A in the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars campaign.

Rawat’s record-breaking knock follows Sana’s historic 15-ball fifty earlier this year, which had matched the fastest T20 half-century by any woman. Uttarakhand’s victory, an 89-run triumph, was built on strong partnerships, including a 72-run stand between openers Raghvi Bist and Kareena, before Rawat’s fireworks accelerated the total.

Hyderabad’s collapse to 98 for eight underscored the gulf in class, as Rawat’s all-round brilliance—both bat and ball—highlighted her dual-threat potential in the shortest format.
