India’s Prema Rawat made history in women’s T20 cricket by smashing the fastest fifty in the format, reaching her milestone in just 14 balls during Uttarakhand’s Senior Women’s T20 Trophy match against Hyderabad. Her explosive 50* included three fours and six sixes, propelling her team to a total of 187 for 2, while Hyderabad was bowled out for 98, resulting in an 89-run victory.
Rawat’s blistering strike rate of 357 shattered Pakistan captain Fatima Sana’s previous record of 15 balls for a half-century. Following her batting heroics, she also contributed with the ball, claiming two wickets for 12 runs in her four-over spell.
The all-rounder, who debuted for India in this year’s Women’s World Cup against South Africa, has struggled with consistency in T20 Internationals, managing just 13 runs in seven matches while taking seven wickets. In domestic cricket, she has represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women’s Premier League, where she was retained ahead of the 2027 auction.
Her latest appearance for India came in the recent series against Zimbabwe, where she played a single T20I.
