Former Indian fast bowler Praveen Kumar has officially sought a position on the Board of Control for Cricket in India's upcoming youth selection panel. The newly formed group aims to discover and cultivate grassroots talent throughout the country, a mission the retired athlete hopes to support by leveraging his prior experience with the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association and coaching background.
Alongside Kumar, other retired internationals including Ramesh Powar and Sudeep Tyagi have reportedly submitted applications for roles on the committee.
During his playing career, Kumar represented India across all three formats, featuring in 6 Tests, 68 One Day Internationals, and 10 T20 Internationals under captain MS Dhoni. The swing bowler notably led India's wicket-taking charts during the 2011 tour of England with 15 dismissals, which included a five-wicket haul at the historic venue.
Meanwhile, ongoing reports suggest that Powar is a leading candidate to assume leadership of the new talent-scouting committee.
