Philip Rivers, NC State are finalizing a deal to make him the next head coach
Philip Rivers is nearing an agreement to take over as the head coach at NC State, his former collegiate program. The transition comes after the former NFL quarterback spent the last several years coaching at the high school level in Alabama, most recently concluding a season with St.
Michael Catholic. Rivers, who was selected fourth overall in the 2004 NFL draft, previously played for the Chargers and the Colts during his professional career.
Negotiations between the university and the coach have been ongoing throughout the past week, though the contract is not yet officially signed.
