During a recent media appearance, former Crimson Tide leader Nick Saban reflected on a pair of major tactical errors from his legendary coaching career. He spoke with Christopher Mad Dog Russo about instances involving the 2013 Iron Bowl and a lopsided victory against Mississippi State in November 2019.
In the first instance, the coach conceded to players demanding that Adam Griffith attempt a long-range kick with a single second left on the clock. That 57-yard try fell short and was returned 109 yards for a game-ending score by Chris Davis.
The second regret involved leaving quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on the field despite a massive lead, resulting in a severe hip injury during a scramble.
