Andrea Kimi Antonelli, the new Formula 1 world champion, topped the timing sheets in the second practice session for the São Paulo Grand Prix, posting a lap 0.253 seconds quicker than his McLaren teammate Lando Norris on the soft tyres. Max Verstappen, still voicing concerns about his Red Bull’s condition, recorded the third‑fastest time, just 0.259 seconds shy of Antonelli’s pace, while George Russell, who will serve a five‑place grid drop for a fresh engine, was fourth and nearly three‑tenths slower than his Mercedes teammate.
Oscar Piastri completed the McLaren duo in fifth, and the Ferraris of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc fell to sixth and seventh respectively, with Hamilton noting tyre‑temperature problems and ending 0.450 seconds off the leader. Further down the order, Isack Hadjar and Ollie Bearman rounded out the top ten, Rafael Camara was 16th in his second Haas outing, and the slowest times were set by Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas, while Nico Hulkenberg missed the session due to car issues.
