Indian Premier League 2027: MI’s Hardik Pandya set for a swap with PBKS’s Arshdeep Singh

A major trade shakeup is brewing in the Indian Premier League ahead of the 2027 season, as Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya is poised to join Punjab Kings in a blockbuster swap. Sources close to both franchises confirm that negotiations have reached an advanced stage, with Punjab finalizing a deal to acquire Pandya in exchange for left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod.

The move comes after Mumbai explored potential trades with at least three other teams, including Kolkata Knight Riders, though discussions with Punjab progressed the furthest. Pandya, who returned to Mumbai in 2024 after a stint with Gujarat Titans, has struggled to replicate his earlier success as MI’s captain, finishing near the bottom of the standings in two of his last three seasons with the franchise.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep’s departure from Punjab could trigger another deal, with reports suggesting the franchise may target Lucknow Super Giants for a swap involving left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan and Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, whose role may be limited by Pandya’s arrival. The official announcement is expected later this week, ahead of the November 17 retention deadline, marking one of the most significant player exchanges in recent IPL history.
