Former international fast bowler Mohit Sharma has taken on a new role as bowling coach for the Chennai Super Kings ahead of the upcoming season. The thirty-seven-year-old takes over coaching duties from Eric Simmons following his retirement from all professional cricket in December 2025.
Franchise CEO Kasi Viswanathan noted that head coach Zaheer Khan specifically put forward Sharma for the position due to his previous contributions as a player.
During his extensive playing career, Sharma featured across one hundred twenty IPL matches and claimed one hundred thirty-four wickets, which includes a standout twenty-fourteen campaign where he secured the Purple Cap with twenty-three dismissals for Chennai. His domestic and international resume also encompasses stints with Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Delhi Capitals, alongside thirty-one ODI appearances and eight T20 international outings for India.
