Chennai Super Kings appoint Zaheer Khan as their new head coach

Former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan has officially taken over the leadership of the Chennai Super Kings coaching staff. He succeeds Stephen Fleming, who departed from his long tenure following the conclusion of the 2026 campaign after leading the franchise since 2009.

Fleming's final year concluded with the squad sitting eighth in the standings and failing to reach the playoff stage. Zaheer brings extensive background from his playing days across multiple franchises as well as prior mentoring and management duties with Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.

Franchise officials expressed enthusiasm regarding his arrival, pointing to his history of guiding developing bowlers and his deep tactical understanding of the game.
