Middlesbrough battle back for point but miss chance to go top

Millwall surged to a two-goal advantage before the interval as Tairyk Arconte and Lyndon Dykes breached the home defence. Arconte, a summer recruit from Rodez, beat Luke Ayling to score off Radek Vitek's near post in the 11th minute, marking his third strike of the campaign and bouncing back from Millwall's recent away woes where they shipped eight goals over two games.

Despite Middlesbrough dominating possession and seeing Max Crocombe thwart Will Lankshear, the visitors doubled their cushion in the 36th minute when Jenson Metcalfe's corner was nodded down by Derek Mazou-Sacko, nudged across by Caleb Taylor, and converted by Dykes, who had recently missed selection for Sebastien Pocognoli's inaugural Scotland squad.

Middlesbrough manager Kim Hellberg reacted at the interval by introducing Jeremy Sarmiento, Max Arfsten, and Kyle Joseph, triggering an immediate turnaround. Brighton loanee Amario Cozier-Duberry reduced the deficit in the 50th minute via a deflected strike following an unconvincing clearance, notching his second goal since joining.

Just past the 60-minute mark, Lankshear nodded home Ayling's deep delivery for his eighth goal of the season to level proceedings at 2-2. Even with Vitek needing to deny replacement Elkan Baggott from close range, the draw preserved a share of the spoils, lifting Boro into third position despite spoiling their flawless home winning streak and denying them the summit.
