Michigan has bolstered its roster ahead of a critical stretch by landing two experienced transfer additions through the portal. Former Miami tight end Alex Bauman, who spent three seasons at Tulane before joining the Hurricanes last year, earned a starting role and contributed 18 receptions for 166 yards and a touchdown as Miami advanced to the national championship game.
Bauman’s NFL hopes unfulfilled after Miami’s Pro Day have cleared the way for his return to college football, where he could provide versatility in multiple tight-end formations as Michigan seeks to improve its struggling Big Ten-leading passing offense.
Cornerback Jeremiah Earby, a two-season starter at California before transferring to Boise State, delivered standout play last fall with 60 tackles and four interceptions, earning second-team All-Mountain West honors. Both players were granted temporary restraining orders, preserving an extra year of eligibility, and have officially enrolled at Michigan.
The additions arrive as coach Kyle Whittingham’s offense searches for answers, with Bauman potentially filling a key role in heavier personnel packages if the Wolverines shift toward a run-heavy approach in the second half of the season.
