East Fife sack Campbell as Lennon steps in at Dumbarton

October 14, 2026

East Fife have dismissed manager Dick Campbell after a dismal stretch of form that saw the club go winless in eight League One matches and bow out of the KDM Evolution Trophy. Campbell, 72, had joined New Bayview in February 2024 after stints at Arbroath and Forfar Athletic, and his departure marks the end of a coaching career that included seven promotions across clubs like Dunfermline Athletic, Brechin City, and Ross County.

The club sits seventh in the league table and cited financial strain as a factor, noting a record investment in players over the past two seasons. Alongside Campbell, his brother Ian and coaches Stuart Malcolm and John Young will also leave the club following Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat to Cumbernauld Colts in the Lowland League, which compounded their struggles in the Challenge Cup.

Meanwhile, former St Mirren and Clyde manager Danny Lennon will take over at Dumbarton on an interim basis, replacing Frank McKeown. Lennon, who previously failed to win in eight games during his brief spell at Airdrieonians last season, was appointed director of football at Dumbarton in September.

The Sons now occupy sixth place in League Two and were eliminated from the KDM Evolution Trophy after a heavy 4-0 loss to Clydebank.
