Michelin is expanding its rear tyre selection for the upcoming Malaysian motorcycle racing weekend at Sepang, providing a newly developed medium compound despite the cancellation of the circuit's planned asphalt replacement. Teams will now have access to a trio of rear choices, incorporating last year's successful soft option alongside a revised medium version and the previous year's medium which transitions into the hard category for this fixture.
Ahead of the Grand Prix, championship leader Marc Marquez holds a ten-point advantage over his closest rival, Jorge Martin, as competitors prepare for demanding track conditions and the ever-present threat of rain. Michelin Motorsport manager Piero Taramasso noted that the extra medium variant will give competitors greater flexibility in adjusting their strategies for the challenging layout.
